This is a plan of action to assist a school or school system when it is dealing with issues of death, dying, and threat of safety or any other crisis, such as injury or acute illness. The goal is to help the school community respond to the needs of students and faculty in order to help them remain psychologically healthy and to prevent the development of later psychological problems. Second to the health and wellbeing of the students and staff is the goal of protecting the reputation of the school and the trust of the community.
