Wellness Centers

Provide Physical & Mental Health Services

After you have established schoolwide positive behavioral expectations through PBIS you need to build additional supports for students who are demonstrating behavioral, social or mental health issues. This system is often called Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS). These supports are coordinated by a Wellness Team.  High-quality Wellness Teams are made up of school mental health providers like counselors, psychologists and social workers, physical health providers like school nurses, and school administrators.  The team uses a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) to identify students through universal screening and then monitor their progress in services offered. The Wellness Program can be established in a single location on a school campus called a "Wellness Center" which provides emotional and physical health services. Wellness Centers are safe places where every child is welcome.
